4 Reasons Why You Should Train In Winter

With the weather getting colder, all we want to do is snuggle up on the couch. But it’s actually during these colder months that staying active is even more beneficial, and not just for our fitness. With the colder weather upon us, we tend to enjoy the ‘Snuggle Up’ Mentality, where we eat more and do less. It’s a form of human hibernation!

4 Reasons Why It’s Even More Important To Exercise In The Colder Months

To stay warm!
We need to stay warm, and we can do so by saving electricity and preventing an expanding waistline. We can stay warm by heating our bodies up naturally by exercising. The rise in our body temperature from working out has a soothing yet calming, long lasting effect on our bodies. Unlike a cuppa tea or bath where the effect lingers after a short.

To stay healthy!
We know that exercising regularly can strengthen our immune systems. This is especially important during the colder months to help ward off so it can fight off infections. When we exercise our blood pumps, immune cells circulate through our bodies more efficiently which helps fight infection more effectively. With this boost being short lived, we need to exercise regularly, for long-term results.

To beat the winter blues!
The winter blues are very common that put a gloom over the colder months. When we exercise on a daily basis, our bodies release feel-good hormones, giving us a boost from our daily grinds and helps ease depression. Plus, if you combine exercise with the great outdoors you can cheer yourself up even more!

Avoid weight gain!
We all do it… we all turn to comfort foods during the colder months. It makes us feel better, although only temporarily, and then leads to ‘winter weight gain’ and uneasy feels of guilt. Did you know the average person puts on up to 4 kg in winter! If we are going to enjoy some extra naughty treats during this time the need for exercising is crucial. In fact increasing the amount of exercise we do may be necessary. Remember, we want to balance our energy in and energy versus out.

With winter around the corner, and the temperatures starting to drop, we know it’s really hard to stay on track. For tips to stay on track during winter click here.
