This time of year is always exciting! Its holiday season. The sun is out and we get to spend some extra special time with our families! It’s the time of year where we feel most motivated and excited to achieve new goals…..but rewind 12 months ago to this time last year, last New Year ’s Day, when we felt just as excited and motivated. Looking back we think “What happened?”
Why did we not achieve the goals we set for ourselves? What got in the way? What went ‘wrong’?
As mum’s we always put our families first. We make sure our kids have healthy packed school lunches, we make sure our partner’s dinner is ready on the table for them when they get home. We want the best for our families. When it comes to ourselves though, we tend to fall off the wagon. Yes we want to set and achieve goals, but as mums we don’t believe we can actually achieve this goal, and that we don’t deserve it.
So mum’s it’s time to start learning about how to retrain your mind to think differently. Your mind and what you are thinking within it, is the key to success in your life.
Of course having doubts is normal, but the comfort level of what you think you deserve is only a learnt response.
Today, right now, is the time to start looking at how you can get what you want. You schedule your kids and families into that calendar, so start doing the same for you! Take this time to really consider what YOU want to experience this year? How YOU can get that goal, what are the steps YOU need take to achieve it.
How to Put Yourself First As A Mum
When we first get married, or when our littles ones are first born, our whole world changes. We always put our partners and our kids first. Nothing was more important than the happiness and well-being of our partners and kids, and our new role as a wife and Mum.
After a few years of being in a family environment, the demands aren’t likely to change, infact with every year, there are probably new challenges, but it is important to simultaneously take care of YOURSELF.
Here are some tips to help you put yourself first as a mum:
- As a busy Mum, we tend to put things on the ‘do later’ list. Now between you and I, we all know that means never. But by loading the dishwasher or putting the the washing up to dry, you know, the tasks we hate doing the most, we actually experience endorphins from finishing a task to 100% completion. These endorphins benefit the functioning of the brain.
- As mums and wives, we always want the best for our kids, especially when it comes to their diet and nutrition. We put in time and effort to make sure they eat enough of the good stuff right? But when it comes to ourselves, we tend to fall off the wagon here. We are really good at preparing healthy meals for our little ones, but for us, we tend to think its okay to skip meals. By prioritising your diet, you will feel better! Make sure you pack yourself some healthy snacks and have them readily available for when you need them!
I bet you have heard it 1000 times, to put yourself as a mum first. But, really, here at The Yummy Mummy Club, we know that we need to put ourselves first because when we do, we truly feel better when we do. Remember this, by putting yourself first, you are benefiting the entire family too! It’s one of the best gifts that we can give to our kids and families.
