Have you heard about Junk Free June?

Junk Free June is a not-for-profit organisation. Like us at The Yummy Mummy Club, they want to create a healthier, happier world.


Junk Free June provide a platform to help individuals and the wider community to improve their overall health and wellbeing. It is a campaign to fight against cancer risk. We all know prevention is better than any treatment, so let’s join Junk Free June to make healthier choices, to reduce our risk of cancer.

Almost 1/3 of all cancers can be prevented, or the risk can be reduced severely by living a healthy lifestyle: eating a nutritious diet, keeping active on a regular basis, and maintaining a healthy weight.

How Junk Free June Works

For some of us, ‘our junk’ is sugary beverages, for others it may be alcohol, or if you are like me, its chocolate! Junk Free June encourages us to decide for ourselves what are junk is to reduce it and cut it out for the month of June.

Benefits of Cutting Junk:

Weight Loss

By cutting junk food you will significantly reduce the total number of calories you consume each day, This can lead to weight loss. This is because most ‘junk foods’ are high in calories, with lower nutritional benefit.

Improved Nutrition

When we eliminate junk food from our diets, we do not have to necessarily calorie constrict. Rather, we are encouraged to consume more nutrient-dense foods, rather than calorie-dense foods. By cutting oat junk foods you will be cutting saturated fat and sugar, replacing them with essential nutrients such as fibre and protein.
